Description
Our item is a vintage collectable Conn slide trombone , used, SN 1013xx,--both inner slide and outer slide--- and Mfg. late 1907, by serial dating lists. Conn Loyalist does not list a model from this time with our instrument specifications.Early models are listed as 1 1/2 bore, or ..450", and ours takes a .445" dent ball through both upper and lower slide tubes__lower ends only. We have a number 8 located on the upper slide in both parts of the hand slide.++New photo could be a #3 and not #8.
The bell is 6 1/4 " diameter and is " Made by C.G.Conn , Elkhart, Ind." There is no bell lock, and the slide lock is on the lower slide tube.
The bell receive is marked with a special marking of : OLRLABEL -----line one(as best of my reading)_, in the emblem it appears to be MPB---line one, and PLU ---in line two. .Underlined with : FACTORY 34 .
Similar to the Union label insignia.---Could be: MPBP and B&SW ---as in one of the old union labels.+++MPB-PLU could be="Metal Polishers Buffers Platers Labor Union" which seems to be active 1901 to 1915.
Unable to locate this factory that made trombones in the Conn History. ---That FACTORY 34-is on some Union Labels.
The funnel shaped mouthpiece is Pryor model, short design.
The case appears to be the original style, all 3 latches work fine, is very strong, and we have included a handle of an original style inside the case. Case has indented emblem on bottom side: KantKrack, Trade Mark, xxxxCo.Chicago.---unable to read last line.
**Added two photos with the #8 on both sections of the hand slide. Not very clear, but they are both there. These are the best that I could take.**Added possible #3 in new photo.
Thank you for looking at history.
NOTE: The photo with the number 8 is not large enough pixels, and will have to retake for ebay (Added above.) Added photo of bell engraving.
NOTE 2: We ship only Continental 48 US states, and UPS on this item.
