    You are bidding on inscribed (3-3/4" x 5-1/2") photograph of pianist, CARL STASNY (1855-1920) mounted on 6" x 8" hardboard with Boston's photographer's imprint in lower right corner, "Elmer Chickering, Boston."
    STASNY was a German pianist and a prodigy of Franz Liszt. He settled in the USA in 1891 and taught at the New England Conservatory of Music. He performed with the Boston Symphony under Nikisch in October, 1892.
    He was not only a piano teacher but also a writer on musical subjects.
    Carl's signature appears in left margin of sepia photograph but also on reverse which reads,
    "To Miss Ednsie Hicks with best wishes," (signed) Carl Statsny, Boston, March 15, 1902."
