Description
For your consideration we have this as-new wooden oboe from Selmer USA. The instrument is impeccably kept and appears to be unused. B34618 Serial number on top/bottom sections. Early-to-mid 1990's era. AConservatory series oboe,
the same as the 1492 model, but the body is
fashioned entirely from the exquisite Grenadilla wood, rather than the trademark Resonite plastic. What a difference can be found in this uncommon variation--technically a student level but offering a gateway to intermediate through its rich tonal properties. Make no mistake--this one can take you to college. Adjusted for inflation, the MSRP on this example is well over 00.
The instrument was obtained to be used as a spare for a concert ensemble, however it was not actually played. No owner markings or unusual damage--in fact, it is immaculately pristine. The oboe has undergone a full inspection and no
intrinsic
flaw or damage was found. According to Selmer, this is the model 1292, which features a Grenadilla wood body, basic conservatory system, range to low B (more on that below), silver-plated nickel silver keys, and an injection-molded case for MSRP ,450 (about 00 adjusted for inflation). Several documents are also included, such as a product guide for 1994, how-to booklet, and warranty card. A like-new reed is present as well.
Please note the bell has no system in play for the low Bb, this note can be obtained by using the legs to close off the sound holes. Otherwise the holes should remain open during the performance.
