Description
I purchased this genuine band approved GUNS N' ROSES T-SHIRT on June 5, 1988 at the Iron Maiden concert at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View CA. This show was part of their continuing Appetite For Destruction Tour as well as the infamous night that singer AXL ROSE, threw his microphone and walked off stage in a huff. The song was OUT TO GET ME, despite what some websites might describe in their set lists. The band continued to play, launching into Rocket queen next and looking around as if they expected Axl to come back out onstage. Sadly, he did not.One at a time, the Slash, Izzy & Duff dropped their guitars and left the stage. Finally, Steve slowed down his
rhythm, tossed his sticks out into the crowd and disappeared backstage.
The night wasn't a total wash, Iron Maiden, the headliners that night, put on a fantastic show and my friends and I got to watch Slash, Duff and Steve rocking out to Maiden from one of the balconies located just east of our seats. We heard that the next night, Axl didn't even show up for the next date in Sacramento the following night. For a time, the fate of Guns N' Roses was up in the air. We never really knew why though, it was announced that he'd had a sore throat that night and wasn't happy with his sound. I saw this T-Shirt, hanging with the others that night when I was purchasing my Maiden tank top (which I also have for sale...) I decided that I better grab one before the band broke up. It was quite a while before that would actually happen after a dazzling stint in the 90's.
The shirt was eventually banned but before that happened, I was kicked out of school one day for wearing it. And now, over 30 years later, it is time for me to let this one go. And I want you to have it. It has only been owned and worn by me and is in that great, vintage condition; thin, soft and perfect. The only flaw it has is a missing tag. The tag was really scratchy when I first wore it so I cut it off. But, it does have the GUNS N' ROSES trademark (see photos).
PLEASE NOTE!
Vintage clothes will usually be smaller than today's modern clothes. Instead of going by S, M, L, Please go by measurement. The best way to do this is to measure your favorite, best fitting t-shirt. Measure the shirt from armpit to armpit and from collar to hem (from the very top of the shirt at collar just to the right or left of the neck, to the bottom hem). Then compare to the details here on my listing. It is the only way to know if a shirt will fit you when buying vintage.
Measurements for Guns N' Roses t-shirt are:
Pit to Pit: 20 inches
Colar to Hem: 28 inches
